Martha's Vineyard

So we decided to do the Martha's Vineyard route instead of Nantucket. The forecast for today was overcast but no rain, so it was perfect to take the ferry across to the island.

It departed from Woods Hole, so we parked just outside of town and took a shuttle bus to the boat. Caitlin enjoyed the bus ride there because she waved and made everyone laugh :) Figures...!

We got our boarding passes and waited in line beside the big boat...

And we left!

Caitlin enjoyed some carrots on the way because she started to get peckish.

After her snack, she went up top to check out the view and giggled uncontrollably when she realized how windy it was :)

After a quick 45 minute ride, the small town of Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard came into view!

We landed and walked along a big pier into town. We stopped for lunch first (for a delicious lobster roll), some ice cream and toured the shops.

The afternoon went quickly but we spent a good portion of it by the water. On the way to the shoreline, we passed huge cedar shake houses with gorgeous hydrangeas - popular everywhere on the Cape.

The waves crashed in.

And we were there to watch them.

Our little water baby sure loves the ocean :)

After a nice afternoon, we said goodbye to Martha's Vineyard and headed back to mainland. We decided to go to a restaurant called The Lighthouse Inn for dinner which is in West Dennis, also right on the water.

Daddy took Caitlin down to the shore while we waited for our dinner to check out the gulls.

I had spiced shrimp skewers over fruit salad, Mike had steak (he was starting to get slightly sick of seafood at this point!) and Caitlin had grilled cheese which she gobbled up.

All done mom!

Wow, tomorrow is our last full day here; this week has gone by so fast.
