Miss Manners

After a big Thanksgiving dinner last night, we headed north to my parents for yet another festive feast.

We managed to pack all our clothes and baby paraphernalia and get on the road in the early afternoon so Caitlin could nap. We've taught her to look for the rock cuts and boulders along the highway because when she sees them getting bigger, that means we're 'close to the cottage'. So she kept her eyes peeled and identified them until her lids were so heavy that they closed :) We pulled in the driveway with her still out cold, and she woke up to grandma waving to her out her car window. Needless to say, she squealed in excitement when it sunk in that we had arrived!

We pretty much arrived just before dinner; my parents plan earlier meals for us because they know we eat early for her schedule. So with dinner all ready and the table set, everyone had their hands free to play with her and Adam. Of course, all she wanted to do was re-discover all the cool treasures, books and toys strategically placed at her level.

When it was time to eat, she showed everyone the proper table manners. She remembered! We've been working on them every time we go up.

Napkin goes on your lap, and you use your utensils from the outside, in. Try your hardest not to play with the interesting napkin ring.

Take little sips of wine (it's really watered-down Welch's in a sherry glass, but it's perfect for little hands!), and compliment the hostess on how pretty the decorated table looks.

Oops! She couldn't help herself!

And now for the delicious meal: turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, brussels, roasted carrots and beans. Yum!
