Carnie Fun

With fall in full swing, we took the kids to the Markham Fall Fair!

We got there early in the morning and it was absolutely frigid and windy outside. So we found an indoor event to warm up at - the cow best-in-show. This is Caitlin and I waiting patiently for the parade of bessies to start:

It didn't start on time so she opted to climb the grand stands instead. The little monkey made her way to the top in no time...

She thought it was hilarious to come back and rub it in our faces that we couldn't catch her!

Adam was cozy and snug-as-a-bug in his car seat, so he enjoyed a little nap while his sister goofed around.

We waited a bit longer, but we could see the cows weren't going to start anytime soon, and Caitlin had lost all patience. So we left and went to see the live animal exhibit.

Finally... cows!

There were mommies and babies everywhere!

Even a momma pig...

And all her piglets :)

One sheep stood up to check us out. All the animal noises sort of freaked Caitlin out; probably because there were giant animals like this one in her face screaming 'baaa'!

But she loved looking at the little sheep. Who can resist these fluffy guys?! It would have been neat to show her the sheep shearing contest, but the crowd to view it was enormous so we didn't stay.

Adam still snoozed away through all the noise :)

We drive by a lot of farms near our house and we're always pointing out the horsies to Caitlin. Mike thought he'd take her closer to show her just how big they are. Side-by-side, she's a tiny munchkin! She wasn't too keen on this monster...

She was MUCH happier to pet a soft, fluffy bunny :)

We then went into the chicken coop to see the prized poultry. Who'd have thought they were so pretty!

Adam woke up at this point because it was SO loud inside - we were literally shouting to each other over all the clucking. So we went back to the barn where the cow show was now taking place, and we skillfully fed the children. I with a cold bottle, and Mike, with our cooler picnic of none other than Caitlin's fav - tuna sandwiches and chopped veggies. I think if we'd let her, she'd eat tuna every day.

We didn't expect the fair to be condusive to young families, so Mike found the perfect spot to change a stinky Caitlin bum; on a wood table beside the grand stands as the cows were judged! No one will notice the smell of a poo inside a barn! We met up with a few of my mommy friends, and they joined us for lunch as well. Once they saw the ingenious change table, they all followed suit :) Good one daddy!

With lunch in our tummies, it was off to the midway. Aaah, the smell of carnies and cotton candy :) The book of tickets we got didn't last long. She went on the carousel...

Then the daddies took the girls for a spin in a strange-looking bird, but I think they had more fun then the little ones!

We bought another book of tickets because we were having a ball. My turn! Caitlin picked a flying bumblebee ride to go on; it went so fast it nearly flung me out!

Wee!

Then we asked the girls if they wanted to go on a ride solo. The jumped at the chance to show us how big they're getting :)

They loved it! Then all Caitlin wanted to do was find rides she could go on without her embarrassing parents :)

Can I go again? Pleeease?!

Even Adam was giving us wishful grins. Sorry buddy; you're growing fast, but you have to be a smidge bigger!

We made it to the end of the midway and started to head back knowing we were now infringing on naptime. Funny how a schedule dictates our life now... quick - have fun, it will be time to eat, sleep then repeat!

Our friends had to head out too, so Mike took the girls on the spinning dragons to use up our tickets.

Lucky for Caitlin, we had one last ticket just as we left, and by golly, the carousel was right there!

Then we walked back to the van; me pushing the stroller and Mike, with Caitlin on his shoulders. Another fun family day :) We didn't even pull out of the parking lot before she passed out!
